The Long Tail and the Empty Church

I have been very interested by the observations of Chris Anderson in the book The Long Tail. He talks about a new economy of outfits like Google and Netflix. At the same time I am reading that I am reading Mark Chaves’ articles “Supersized:Analyzing the trend toward larger churches” in Christian Century November 28, 2006.Chaves makes the point that more and more people are going to larger churches. This seems in some way to move in a different from Anderson’s the Long Tail. This is a puzzlement.
